The service is very good at Motor Werke and so is the quality of their work. This is great if you don’t mind paying a significant premium for it. Even compared to a dealership in the old over-heated Calgary market Motor Werke’s prices for service work are very expensive. If you have the means indulge yourself. If you are only a little cautious with your money shop around.

Terrible communication from Chris had my car for over a month after ordering the wrong ignition parts from Germany for my BMW. His error never even apologized thank god I had a second family vehicle I could use. In the month he had my vehicle they had multiple other items to fix suspension and belts etc. Nothing was done until they finally got the ignition. Car sat outside and ended up getting water in the back as it was spring and the downpour found a leak in the newly replaced rear convertible window. The rear lights were replaced 10 minutes after leaving the light came on that it as burnt out. Had to drive back and got a “well its an old car these things over heat and just need to be tweaked” well did you test drive it? Started having issues with a shimy after having the majority of the front end replaced after about 3 days. He blamed the tires and rims took it to my tire guy and he explained the back sprigs were broken…….. Chris had the rear end down to replace the shocks the week before never mentioned it then said “my bad” we can replace them and I wont charge you labour. Then charged me labour. Now this was shortly after Motor Werke opened maybe they have cleaned up their act in the subsequent years being open. But the Nearly 10 000 I spent on a vehicle I paid 15 000 was not an issue until the problems kept creeping up and no explination for their poor communication or service. I don’t imagine this review will make it through but it sucks as Chris employees some quality mechanics and sadly it has hampered my decision on buying certain exotic cars Mazerati specifically as his mechanics are the only people in the city that have the knowledge to fix them. I hope others have better service from Chris in particular and now maybe that he is established he is not gouging to get going(my feelings of how it was when I was dealing with them). This was in 2010ish and I owned a 1996 BMW 328 Convertible.

Thanks MW Getting to the bottom of an engine check light problem on my X3 took a bit longer than anyone expected but after methodically working through the diagnostics Craig eventually found the problem and got the engine check light extinguished .Craig then got the oil and filter service and service check list done. Nice touch in that Craig took me back into the shop and showed me the 2 belt tensioners that are starting to chirp and will need changing out in the Spring. Tess did a great job washing and vacuuming my car and got me turned around and headed back to Cherryville once again enjoying my BMW . Thanks Chris and Kayleigh

Chris and Jeff have been caring for our cars almost since we moved to Kelowna. My 67 mgb gt v8 conversion has been Jeff’s “baby” and I think he’s worked out the most difficult bugs. Just today I stopped in without an appointment because my wife has curbed the front end on her car and the air dam was hanging down. I think Jeff delayed his lunch to put it on the hoist replace the broken screw putting everything back in place ( to my wife’s great relief ) and then Chris saying ” no charge”. Few warnings: 1. What you’re quoted is never what you’ll be asked to pay when you arrive- there’s always a surprise “hidden” somewhere. 2. If you happen to have gift cards beware: you cannot use them at the same time as getting a customer loyalty discount. Ever heard of a business that doesn’t allow you to use gift cards on a sale item… asking you to pay pre-sale price just because you have gift cards?? (The answer is NO!!). Ridiculous and complete non-sense. Opposite of customer loyalty. 3. A light bulb changed for over $600 only to find out just weeks later it wasn’t installed properly. When I took it back they charged me for it again and I had to point out to them that it was their own faulty work so NO I wasn’t going to pay for it twice. 4. If you ever find an error in what you’ve been charged don’t expect to be reimbursed appropriately or in a timely manner. You’ll have to be persistent– only way you’ll get your money back if you’re lucky. 5. Document everything! Quotes emails conversations… AND after all this you’ll walk out made to feel you’re the one who is difficult. Best of luck.

We had an engine warning light come on in our older Jaguar while vacationing in The Okanagan. We found Motor Werke online via the positive reviews and were not disappointed. Chris and Kayleigh were professional helpful and accommodating from the moment we stepped into their office. They even gave us a complimentary loaner car while they kept our car for diagnosis and repair which was a much appreciated gesture considering we were not regular clients. They diagnosed the issue we came in for but also discovered another more serious problem and took care of that too. Chris made sure we knew the cost and detailed the repairs ahead of time. The invoice was not cheap but you get what you pay for and what we got was exceptional service peace of mind and a vehicle that was thoroughly serviced and repaired. Wouldn’t hesitate to use them again if the need arose!

I took my 1983 911 SC into MW in May/2017 for some over due repairs including redoing the heating system overhauling the brake calipers and repairing the odometer replacing the tires besides the normal maintenance. Chris and Jeff the mechanic were very helpful in explaining what needed doing. Jeff had to make a special tool to remove the brake calipers and repairing the heating system and odometer were difficult to do. Additional work including cut-polishing the paint re-dyeing the leather interior were carried out. I am very pleased with the result. The car looks and performs like it was new.

I took my Camaro in to have some electrical work done. Specifically hard wire / key power on my radar detector and eliminate wires hanging down from the mirror. The cost (in my humble opinion) was excessively high. $258. to run wire to fuse panel behind left kick plate tucked into headliner and A-pillar. It was “Not switched” and was 50% of the reason I wanted the work done in the 1st place.. If find it incomprehensible that a switched source could not be located in and around the rear view mirror which has numerous indicator lamps or in the entire fuse panel. I was also charged $25.80 for installation of a “cable tie” to bundle and effectively shorten after market GPS power cord and apply a piece of double sided tape.

Our 2009 mini cooper needed needed a service and we were worried about a strange tapping sound from the engine on cold starts. Motor Werke techs identified the source of the problem as an issue with the timing chain. (Aargh!!! sounds expensive and is potentially fatal to the engine if not fixed) After some inspection work MW advised us that as it had been caught early there was no damage done to either the chain the guides and all that was needed was a new tensioner to replace the weak original. This could be easily done without a strip down. Needless to say we were very relieved. We felt both our car and our wallet were both being well looked after. Other work done: Oil service New spark plugs Front brake service Rear brake replacement including rotors Coolant service. Car now runs and stops like new. We are well pleased!!!

After having Motor Werke help broker a deal to sell my 98 911 C2S and buy a replacement I decided to give them a shot at my MGB GT V8 conversion. An unusual car that had been through three or four shops trying to get it to run the way it should. I could have saved a lot of money if I had known about MW because Jeff has it finally running the way it should and it is obvious this is a shop run by car enthusiasts with service a top priority.

I recently had an opportunity to have Motor Worke assess my Mercedes Benz after a rattle was detected. They diagnosed the problem and rather than repairing the failed catalytic converter researched the warranty. They were able to confirm with Mercedes Benz that these parts were covered under an extended environmental warranty saving me thousands of dollars. Their level of customer service is a rare find. I’ll be back.

I have to say I am very impressed with this shop. I just purchased a 2009 Mini Cooper S from a Kelowna dealership I would love to name them but I’m sure it’s not recommended. But it’s certainly not hard to figure out 🙂 I was told by the said dealership that the car was fully serviced and in top shape with all things done to it such as oil change etc. before being resold to me as this is the difference from buying from a dealership vs. off the street. Not quite. I noticed a few things off about the car after driving it for a bit. The car had an aftermarket intake air filter installed and I noticed upon purchased it was cleaned but not re oiled (a big no no if you know anything about these). Now if anyone other than me or another car educated person purchased this Cooper and didn’t know they would drive around happy as a clam with their un oiled air filter. That being said I didn’t feel comfortable going back to the dealership to check up with the items I had noticed with my Cooper. I’m thinking if they didn’t know to oil the filter what else do they not know? I mean that should have been a no brainer for them really! So after doing some research I chose to go the Motor Werke in Kelowna for my issues with the Cooper. I have to say I was more than impressed with their service and knowledge. I had a list of things for them to look at that I was worried about. We then discovered the oil change wasn’t even done at the dealership as it was promised it was a simple cheap thing that is the life of any vehicle. Another reason I was happy I didn’t return to the dealership. Motor Werke gave the car a serious once over and found numerous things that needed attention to which I am grateful for. I’m not sure if you have ever been broken down on the road but believe me it is not a good feeling. They fixed everything they found and the car runs AMAZING now I’m so happy. I feel like it finally got the servicing it deserved. I can’t recommend this shop highly enough. Their service team knows what they are talking about and are fast and efficient in getting things fixed. I got the car back on the day promised despite finding a few more issues at the end during the final alignment. They stayed open past 5 so that I could come down from Osoyoos to pick up the car for that I am grateful. I whole heartedly recommend this shop for any of your vehicles needs and they won’t take advantage of you. When I went in I inquired about doing a performance upgrade which they said they could do but upon looking into the vehicles history they discovered it had one already (bonus). Now they could have kept that to themselves and charged me anyways but they didn’t. They were just as excited about discovering it as I was (money saved). Whether your vehicle is used or new I would go to this shop without hesitation. Skip going to the dealer and go to these guys. You will get treated excellent and have solid peace of mind that your vehicle is being looked after and is a top priority to them as it is to you. And if you are considering buying a used vehicle have it sent here for an honest inspection before purchase. I think the money spent on this inspection will be well worth it. As it will be a third party inspection and not the dealer telling you how great the car is only to find out later it has a bunch of issues they failed to mention. 5 starts to Chris and his crew at Motor Werke!!!

We came in to Kelowna for a weekend of driving and fun and my car had tranny problems just as we got to Kelowna. A friend and fellow exotic car owner recommended Chris and his team and called Chris to see if he could pull a rabbit out of his hat. He was booked up but got me in the shop the next day and had one of his techs stay late to get the car repaired and got me back on the road the next day. The car worked perfect and they found the problem. First class shop and they know their cars. If you have a Ferrari or a Lamborghini they have the computer to diagnose the problems. I did receive a response back 3 weeks ago from my earlier review that Chris was quite concerned about my review and would be following up with me shortly. This did not happen so I’m led to believe that Motorwerke’s is not that concerned about my opinion. However I have used that time to thoroughly review my bill and quote and I had several items that were either quoted at $149 or charged at $149. As mentioned in my earlier review the quote to replace my battery was $149 – for a service that doesn’t take me more than 5 minutes to complete. I also had a quote to fix an inoperative windshield washer for $149 – upon review of the quote I thought that this is probably something fairly minor so I would look at it myself. I recorded the amount of time that I took and although I had no idea what the problem was going to be it took me 12 minutes to: determine the filter attached to the windshield washer pump was clogged remove it clean it and replace it – it now works fine. I was also charged $149 to reset a code relating to my seat belt light indicator and to put my battery on a charger (again not something that should take any significant amount of time). Thus I believe that Motorwerke’s has a minimum charge for any service they provide (this was certainly never explained to me). This is something that I believe Motorwerke should be up front about assuming that is their policy and not something that I would agree to had I known in advance. If there is no minimum charge policy then I just happened to encounter a significant coincidence in being charged/quoted the same dollar amount for services that take a very minor amount of time to complete. Either way I would suggest thoroughly reviewing any quote provided prior to agreeing to the services being completed and request that they consolidate any items that take a minor amount of time to complete into one ‘fair’ billing amount.

Good responsive service and nicely cleaned car when I picked it up but disappointed with the quote I received. I was one of Chris’ first customers when he first opened up his shop and I was glad to have an alternative to the BMW dealership that had previously worked on my summer car. However this time around I feel that MW has lost its way. In picking up my car I was provided with a list of recommended services that needed to be completed. Without getting into the merits of what was being recommended I was quoted $149 for the labour to replace the battery in the car. When I questioned it as I could not believe it was correct (I take the battery in/out every winter and it is a job that does not take me longer than 5 minutes to complete) I was told that is what the ‘book’ states to charge and what the service advisor stated the BMW dealership charges for this service. Unfortunately for me this type of billing attitude completely lost my trust in Chris as a service provider. I can understand the need/desire to go by the ‘book’ when providing quotes on larger jobs but for a service that is very straightforward and quick you need to be realistic on what you are charging your customers – particularly when you end other quoted services with “Additional time may be required for…”. Trying to flat rate services that cannot take anywhere near the time quoted to complete and at the same time providing a caveat to charge extra time for something that may be a little more complex is in my ‘book’ a very poor approach to maintaining customer satisfaction. Unfortunately I will now be looking for another garage in Kelowna.

I recently purchased my first BMW a “new to me” 2001 Z3 3.0i. After having read many reviews on this website I felt confident that Motor Werke would be the right place to bring it for an assessment and prioritize any needed repairs. I was not wrong the reviews were accurate. The vehicle assessment that TJ completed on my car and the discussions with Wade helped me to understand and prioritize the needed work including a complete detailing. I returned from vacation and picked up the car yesterday. All the work was done and the vehicle returned to near showroom condition inside and out. We have taken our 93 Toyota pickup to MotorWerke from a oil change to more in depth repairs. Given the age of our vehicle parts can be a challenge to obtain not for the Motorwerke team. This is why Chris and his team are exceptional at what they do! The Motorwerke team works on high end vehicles having said that they will also do work on other vehicles and their hourly rate to work on our Toyota is comparable to the Toyota dealer if not better. The customer service at Motorwerke is second to none! We always get a courtesy car to drive while the Toyota is being working on and it usually is a German car! Before the work is initiated a Motorwerke team member calls and explains what they have found from their analysis. Along with the cost to do the repairs. After the work is complete and we are picking up our vehicle Chris or a member from the Motorwerke team has all the old parts in their front office which they have changed and explain in great detail what and why they were changed. I was referred to this shop because I now own a BMW but I am wondering if I can afford to. I came to have an oil change and to fix the headlight and because I thought I may also need a tune up. I ended up with a bill for $860 an estimate for mechanical work to the tune of $17 000 and even though some lights were repaired my main headlight still didn’t work! I didn’t expect I would have to rebuild my X5 at 200 000km. On the positive side this shop is very thorough they seem to know what they are doing the courtesy car was much appreciated (as I am from out of town) and the hand wash of the vehicle is a classy touch. When I bought the van (Bessie) a short while ago I wanted to make sure she was in good shape before I took her on a long journey. First time trying your shop. Your initial evaluation/diagnostics were thorough and at a fair price although I had to call back at 4pm (car was promised by end of day) as I didn’t receive a call back from Jonathan by 2:30pm as to it’s progress as promised. Not a huge deal but I was wondering … I would like to get the cost estimate for the work that was discussed with Jonathan primarily the EVA sensor/valve that is apparently sticking open to see if this resolves the finicky starting and low rpm idling issue wihich (fortunately) your tech (TJ?) experienced while you had the car and that I have unfortunately continued to experience while driving it this weekend 🙁 I’m not sure I buy the recommended battery replacement issue though … seems to always crank but the idle doesn’t stay strong upon initial firing by itself and sometimes stalls immediately. I would really like to resolve this. I understand the recommendation to change out fluids to establish baseline service intervals with the car at your shop (since it is older without service history) but I want to feel sure that it is due and required. Can we assess age of fluids? Are they dirty/worn? (you recommended transmission and brake fluid replacement). You plugged in the radio code and got that working – thank you!! (not that I listen much) I have only had the car three weeks and hadn’t had the time yet to fire up the radio … nice to have done. Filter replacements I agree with. I would like to get the car back to 100% … I think it is almost there. Probably need a replacement passenger side headlight though. Are you able to get them cheaper than buying original from Porsche? VERY expensive. Overall seems like an attentive and honest shop … I am so far impressed and will come back.

I was very disappointed with a simple job of replacing a door handle carrier a $60 item + labour was quoted as a $300 part with 2 hrs labour $600 total After declining to have this done on principle of a 500%$ markup on the price of the part you still charged me $200 for removing the panel to see what the problem was this is a recall item so it happens on these vehicles so if your “technicians” have see this before why is it taking 1 1/2 hrs to do or was I charged for the ” free inspection” To say the least I won’t be back and will advise others the same

The starter on my BMW Z4 refused to engage. I replaced the battery no change. I called MW. They arranged for Steve to give me a tow. Great call a little more money but excellent service with his flat bed vehicle. The cost to replace the starter was $1180. I’m not sure if that is a fair price or not. 1 hour shop time to diagnose the problem. Fair or not? Their complementary inspection uncovered a couple of things that I was aware of and a couple that I was not aware of. The new starter works well and the 3 year warranty on parts and labor is fantastic. MWs appears to be a clean modern well equipped shop.

Had a service done on my Porsche. After the service I lifted the back hatch to discover a white powder sprayed all over the interior. Looked like dried shaving cream. What a mess and what a disappointment. I returned to have it looked at and it seems a dispenser of the urea went wrong. The mechanic said he cleaned it up. Really? I wonder how much more there was if he had really cleaned it up. The car washer used a carpet cleaner to clean it off. He also lifted the base to where the spare tire is stored. The jack was covered in the stuff as well. I still see some spots in the side filter. I also wonder what will happen in the future when it warms up in that area. Will I get an odor from the chemical used? I don’t see how you can remove something like that by spraying some carpet product and wiping it off. The worst part is that I had to discover it myself waste my time dealing with it and I’m left with concern about the state of my interior in the future. What a shame to do this to such a beautiful and expensive car.

Motorwerke first came to my notice through one of their advertising campaigns targeting European premium brands. My LR was in the Mall parking lot and when I returned to it there was a plasticized ad on the windshield asking me to give Motorwerke a try. I noticed that my LR and a BMW close by were the only vehicles that seemed to have received this attention. Because the ad was plasticized it was easy to keep and a few weeks later I dropped by to check out their shop. After meeting Jeff and hearing their philosophy on car care and seeing the shop – which for cleanliness and organization closely resembles a racing team’s shop – I decided I would give them a try when my next maintenance was due. Shortly thereafter I required a brake job. I had a quote but I went to Motorwerke for their quote. They not only gave me a better quote they explained what parts they would use to end the heavy black brake dust build-up so prevalent on European vehicles. All work was done on time and met the quote. As a bonus the brake dust issue has gone away as promised. Recently my LR stopped working just above Brenda Mines with the check-engine light on. It was towed into Motorwerke. It was not an easy issue as there was more than one problem including rodent damage under the hood. Throughout Jeff and Jennifer kept me informed of their progress and handled the insurance claim for the rodent damage. In the end it turned out that I had dirty gas my fuel filter was almost blocked and the fuel filter looked like I had loaded up on Fraser River water. Most of the rear-end of the LR had to be taken apart to get at the fuel pump and tank. Jeff took the time to show me the work and what had to be done. When all was fixed my gas mileage improved by nearly 3 litres/100 Km. Obviously the dirty gas had been in the tank for some time affecting performance. From my experience the team at Motorwerke Chris Jeff and Jennifer know their clients and treat them on personal level. Professionals running a professional operation.

My Mini Cooper is #51 of the first 500 that came into North America when the Mini was reintroduced into North America in 2002. It is a “numbered” vehicle from Mini and I have had it since brand new.
