The stories this Land Rover could tell. If you’ve been in the Motor Werke shop lately, you’ve probably seen this 1971 Land Rover 110 Station Wagon hanging out in the back bay.
Land Rover has been around for decades and when the 70s rolled around, the manufacturer continued with the gradual evolution expected from Land Rover. Changes to models have always been subtle, staying true to the classic Land Rover design.
A few more modern comforts were added to the interior of the Land Rover Station Wagon, plus the manufacturer was venturing into more specialty body styles offering everything from small fire engines to ambulances.
Now 48 years old, this particular Land Rover is going through a much anticipated and thorough mechanical restoration.
Where to start? With a good foundation!
The tires had become stiff, cracked, and unsafe. This Land Rover now rolls with BF Goodrich All-Terrain K02s made to take on the roughest road conditions with confidence.
They feature 20% tougher sidewalls with race-proven CoreGard ™, extended shoulder rubber to protect more of the tire sidewall, as well as increased mud, rock, and snow traction that exceeds Tire and Rubber Association of Canada’s severe snow traction requirements.
A new set of tires deserves fancy rims; powder-coated not only to ensure long-lasting protection but to also look amazing.
Motor Werke’s team is excited for many more upgrades that include:
- Engine and transmission rebuild.
- Upgrade suspension, shocks, and parabolic leaf springs.
- Full brake job, including replacing rusty brake lines.
- Frame reconditioning and paint.
- Repair and update upholstery.
It’s an aggressive plan for one of the most adventurous vehicles around. When we say no job is too big, we mean it!
